Asking Yourself How Do I Remove Spyware? Help Is Here!
Is your computer slowing down? Are you having trouble running the applications you used to run with ease? Has surfing the internet turned into a chore of unmanageable frustration? If the answer is yes, you could be infected with spyware. Spyware has affected millions of internet users who have failed to surf the internet safely, and failed to have a good measure of protection installed on their computers. This spyware is a scourge and can cause the user to have a ton of problems. Spyware will slow down your system, can cause your internet browser to behave strangely, and can even–if left unchecked–wind up tearing apart your computer. If you have this problem and you want to get rid of spyware, here’s how it’s done.
The first thing you’ll want to do is get a good spyware detection software. Research and try and get the best one for your needs. Once you’ve downloaded them, disconnect from the internet. Take a moment and either run a full system backup, or at least make a backup of your most important files. Messing around in the directory, especially when spyware is involved, can be a risky prospect. It only takes doing one thing wrong to wipe out your hard drive. Don’t let this happen to you. Back up your files, and then reboot your computer into Safe Mode.
If you don’t know how to reboot into Safe Mode, instructions are available on the Microsoft website. Once in Safe Mode, the spyware applications aren’t able to regenerate themselves the way they are when you’re out of Safe Mode and connected to the internet. Your first course of action is to go into the “My Network Places” of your computer and get rid of anything that you find suspicious. Reboot your computer, once again into Safe Mode.
Now you’ll want to go into your program files and get rid of anything you don’t remember downloading or installing yourself. You may even want to get rid of programs you did install, but are suspicious of now that your computer is working so poorly. After you’ve done this, it’s time to run whichever spyware remover you’ve installed. Let it scan every file and folder on your computer. This may take a while, but you don’t want to take a chance on missing anything. Quarantine and delete whatever spyware the program finds.
Reboot your computer into normal mode and recheck “My Network Places” and your program files to make sure none of the offending programs have reappeared. Set up a firewall and a good pop up blocker and reconnect to the internet. Monitor your system’s performance for the next few hours and see if it seems the problem is solved. If so, congratulations. If not, you may want to look into getting another spyware removal program and running it as well. Certain ones are better than others, and a combination of two good ones will give you more of a chance of catching everything.
