SpywareRemover 2007 - Full Review
SpywareRemover 2007 is a program that makes some pretty big claims - does it live up to its hype?
I purchased a review copy of SpywareRemover 2007, and my intial impression was pretty positive and that was three years ago. I'm still using it today. This is a Spyware Remover that is well designed, and very intuitive to use. One of the great things about this software is that it takes care of Adware and Spyware of course, but it also has features like a built-in pop-up blocker utility (much of the spyware you will find online comes from infected pop-ups); as well as a "Hi-jack Killer" that deletes trojan horse viruses that may be on your system. In addition, it has an automatic history eraser that you can turn on to protect your browsing history, and an integrated cookie eliminator that will delete cookies that websites put on your computer automatically. What this all means is that SpywareRemover has a great list of features, all of which will help you delete and prevent spyware from ever getting on your computer in the first place (however it will not replace a good virus protection program).
The first thing I did with the software was update it (which you should do before you ever use any spyware remover program), and then I ran a complete system scan. I was impressed with the results - on the test PC I use for every spyware program I test, it found 1,100 infected files. Not quite up to NoAdware or XoftSpySE standards, but still very good. After deleting the files, I immediately noticed a huge jump in system performance - everything loaded faster, browsing the internet was more enjoyable, and the computer even booted up almost twice as fast. All in all, a good performance from the program's scanning feature.
I also wanted to test the additional features the program provided, so I enabled the pop-up blocker and went to a pop-up infested site. It was 100% effective; not one pop-up got through the program's blocker. This alone is worth the price of the program; there is nothing more annoying than trying to read a site with pop-ups occuring every 30 seconds. I also turned on the history and cookie deletion features, and spent a day browsing the internet. Afterwards I checked my history and cookie folders and both were empty as promised - this will help keep spyware off of your computer, as well as protect your browsing history if you share your computer with others.
Overall, I would have to give this program a solid A, due to its depth and great features that are included. However, the scanning ability is a bit lacking when compared to NoAdware and XoftSpySE; so I would recommend running both this and another spyware scanning program to delete any rougue files that might be missed by SpywareRemover 2007. But for sheer power and features, it is a great program to have.
